Upcoming Cars From Tata and Mahindra Launching Soon in India

Tata Motors and Mahindra are going to launch multiple new products in the coming months to improve sales as the majority of launch will take place in the SUV segment. The success of new products will be really important for both companies as they are fighting for third position in overall sales each month. In this article, we are featuring five upcoming cars from Tata Motors and Mahindra.

1. Mahindra XUV700

Mahindra has been working on a flagship SUV codenamed Y400 for some time now and it is basically the new generation of Rexton as the previous model didn’t sell well in India. The design theme will be similar to the International model but Mahindra has made small tweaks like the front grille, bumper and alloy wheels to make it inline with other models from the portfolio.

The interior is going to be premium with new leather seats along with touchscreen infotainment system on the centre console and wood inserts on the dashboard. The XUV700 will come with a plethora of features to lure buyers. The XUV700 is expected to be powered by a 2.2 L turbocharged diesel engine with 187 PS and 420 Nm with 7-speed automatic gearbox.

Expected Price: Rs. 24-27 lakh

2. Tata Tiago JTP

Tata Tiago JTP made its debut at 2018 Auto Expo and it will be the first performance model from the company. The JTP model is a result of collaboration between Jayem Automotives of Coimbatore and Tata Motors as these products will be based on regular models. The Tiago JTP model comes with lots of mechanical changes to make it more potent.

The suspension, gearbox and steering will be tuned for sporty riding. The performance hatchback will be powered by 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 PS of power at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 2,000-4,000 rpm. This engine will be mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and the JTP model will also come with slight design tweaks to make it differentiate from the regular model.

Expected Price: Rs. 6-7 lakh

3. Tata Harrier

Tata Motors officially revealed the concept model of Harrier at 2018 Auto Expo and the design was based on new Impact Design 2.0. The company has confirmed that most of the design elements from concept will make it to the production model and Harrier will debut the new OMEGA platform, which will underpin all future models of Tata Motors above 4.3 m in length.

The interior will get a completely new design theme and quality will be much better than current Tata products. The Harrier is going to be loaded with lots of features and it will be a 5 seater model. The power comes from 2.0 L engine sourced from FCA with 140 PS and 320 Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai. The company will price the new premium SUV aggressively against the competition.

4. Mahindra XUV 300

The upcoming compact SUV from Mahindra is codenamed as S201 and it will be based on SsangYong Tivoli platform, but the exterior design will be completely different as the company has given new grille along with projector headlamps and a new bumper with skid plates for an SUV look. The rear comes with LED tail lamps and muscular bumper.

But the interior is going to be shared with Tivoli and it comes with segment first features like dual-zone climate control and sunroof. The XUV300 will also come with safety features like seven airbags, ABS, four disc brakes, EBD, Brake Assist and more.

MAHINDRA XUV300

The compact SUV is expected to be powered by same 1.5 L diesel engine from Marazzo with 123 PS and mated to a manual transmission. We can expect an automatic version to be offered and it will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.

Expected Price: Rs. 8-12 lakh

5. Tata Tigor facelift

Tata Motors introduced Tigor last year based on the popular Tiago hatchback. The compact sedan stands out from the crowd thanks to its design theme. But in the recent times, sales are not strong and the company is planning to introduce a facelift model. The updated model comes with tweaked front and rear bumper along with some new colour option may be.

The biggest change will be the new 7-inch touch screen infotainment system and the company had to redesign the centre console to accommodate the new screen. The long list of features will be carried over to the new model also. The Tigor will retain the current petrol and diesel engines with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. We can expect a small bump in price with new model.
