Upcoming Bajaj 125cc Motorcycle Range To Sold Under ‘Era’ Brand?

Bajaj Era 125

Rajiv Bajaj recently revealed that his company will launch a new brand of motorcycles in the 125cc segment and it could be Bajaj ERA 125 as Trademark for ERA recently applied

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Ltd, recently revealed that the new Pulsar and Avenger range of motorcycles will be unveiled in 2020. He also said that the company is working on a new range of 125cc motorcycles as the sales of the Discover range has been falling.

While he refrained from divulging further details, as per our sources, Bajaj has applied for ERA trademark and upcoming 125cc motorcycle could be badged as ERA 125. The Bajaj Era range of 125cc motorcycles will help the bike maker revitalize its sales performance in the highly competitive 125cc segment.

Rajiv has confessed that his company has been missing out on a major chunk of sales owing to the falling popularity of the Discover range. In fact, the Bajaj V12, which was basically a 125cc version of the V15, failed to sell even a single unit in July 2018.

While speculations abounded that the company would come up with a 125cc version of the Platina, for now it looks like the Bajaj Era range would be responsible in helping the company find more customers in the 125cc segment.

Speaking about the potential in the 125cc segment, Rajiv recently said that his company has been missing out on mid-segment 125cc, which is approximately 2.5 lakh bikes a month. Even if he manages to capture 20 per cent of the market share, it will give the company a considerable number. He further said that the bike maker’s new product will be responsible for helping the company achieve its sales target in this segment.

The Bajaj Era 125 is likely to be powered by an all-new engine that will be compliant with the emission norms scheduled to come into effect from 2020. Currently, its 124.5cc single-cylinder engine is tuned to output 11 PS of power @ 7500 rpm and 11 Nm of torque @ 5500 rpm.
