TVS Jupiter 125 is expected to be the model waiting for launch next month to compete against recently introduced Suzuki Burgman Street 125
Having launched the Radeon 110 cc commuter motorcycle last month, TVS is all pumped to introduce another produce sometime in October and the speculations surrounding it have increased recently. It is expected to be a premium scooter in a bid to consolidate the homegrown brand’s portfolio following the tremendous success of Ntorq 125.
While the Radeon eyes big market share in the entry-level bike space long run by Hero MotoCorp, the premium scooter could take a different route altogether. It is believed to be in response to the growing trend for affordable upmarket scooters with modern design, good performance and connectivity options.
More likely to be the Jupiter 125, TVS is said to utilise the positive mindset of customers during the festive season and get a momentum going. The standard Jupiter is the best-selling scooter for the brand in India, and having its name on a premium version will be equally attractive as well.
It could share plenty of components with the Ntorq 125 including a digital instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity and so on. The Ntorq rose to fame in no time and featured in the top ten selling charts within three months of its commercial launch and we can expect a similar response on the upcoming model.
The TVS Jupiter 125 will likely have an evolutionary exterior compared to the existing Jupiter 110 and potentially compete against the likes of recently launched Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Aprilia SR 125 and Honda Grazia. With TVS’ knack of pricing the products aggressively, it could sit in the Rs. 70,000 (ex-showroom) range.
The powertrain could be adopted from the Ntorq 125 as well as the 124.79 cc single-cylinder mill could pump out 9.4 PS and 10.5 Nm. It will possibly boast a premium exterior with LED headlamp unit, LED turn signal, LED tail lamp, upmarket accents, sporty paint job, etc.
