As confirmed by Bajaj Auto’s Rajiv Bajaj, there will be more models that will be added to the 400cc lineup from which the Thruxton 400 could be up next

Triumph will likely be launching a new motorcycle later this year and we believe this is most likely to be the Triumph Thruxton 400, which is an old school café racer styled motorcycle that has already been spotted quite a few times.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be a cafe racer and the 3rd offering in the 400cc segment. It’ll get typical cafe racer style design, with new frame-mounted half-fairings and clip-on handlebars, making for a sportier riding position. The headlight is a round unit similar to what we have seen on the Triumph Speed 400.

The bike is expected to come with the same underpinnings as the Speed 400. It will be built on the same frame while the suspension duties are carried out by a 43 mm inverted fork at the front and a gas-charged preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. The braking setup will be similar with a 300 mm front and 230 mm rear disc.

The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be powered by the same 399 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC fuel-injected engine as the Speed 400 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. It churns out 40 PS at 8000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6500 rpm, and is paired with a six-speed transmission. Features include ride-by-wire throttle, dual-channel ABS, and a slip and assist clutch.

With respect to pricing, we believe the Triumph Thruxton to come at a similar price as the well received Scrambler 400 X, which means it will be roughly around the Rs 2.62 lakh mark (ex-showroom). As is tradition, before its launch, the cafe racer will likely be unveiled at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy but no official confirmation has been made yet.

Upon launch, the Thruxton will not have any direct competitors in its segment and the only other alternatives available in the market will be the smaller capacity Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and the higher capacity Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. The GT based semi faired motorcycle was spied a long while ago and it is yet unknown if it will be launched or not
