The Innova range remained Toyota’s biggest seller, but sharp declines in the Glanza and Innova models weighed on overall volumes

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded domestic sales of 25,027 units in September 2026, marking a 7.6% decline from the 27,089 units sold in September last year. Sales also fell 11.9% compared to August 2026, when the company dispatched 28,410 units to the domestic market.

The Innova range and Urban Cruiser Hyryder continued to be Toyota’s biggest volume drivers. However, both models registered year-on-year declines, while the sharp drop in Glanza sales added to the pressure. Growth in the Rumion, Taisor and Fortuner helped cushion the fall. The Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross, reported together, led Toyota’s model-wise sales chart with 8,008 units in September. However, volumes fell 18% year-on-year from 9,783 units. The combined range also recorded a 12% month-on-month decline.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder followed with 7,115 units, down 6% from 7,608 units in September 2025. Sales fell 14% compared to August. Together, the Innova range and Hyryder accounted for around 60.4% of Toyota’s domestic sales during the month. Their performance therefore had a substantial bearing on the company’s overall numbers.

The Toyota Rumion emerged as one of the month’s strongest performers, with sales rising to 2,481 units from 829 units a year ago. That represents a 199% increase. It also recorded a 9% improvement over August. The Urban Cruiser Taisor registered 3,097 units, up 35% year-on-year and 8% month-on-month. It came close to matching the Fortuner’s monthly tally, finishing just 88 units behind the SUV.

The Fortuner recorded 3,185 units, a 14% annual increase, although sales declined 9% compared to August. Toyota also reported year-on-year growth for the Hilux, Camry, Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300. The latter recorded 58 units, more than double its September 2025 figure of 27 units, albeit on a relatively small base.

The Glanza saw the sharpest fall among Toyota’s listed models. Sales dropped from 3,299 units in September 2025 to just 189 units in September 2026, a decline of 94%. Compared to August, volumes fell 87%. The Urban Cruiser Ebella recorded 166 units during September, down 55% from 372 units in August. No year-on-year comparison is available in the reported data, which lists zero units for September 2025.

Toyota’s September performance highlights the uneven movement across its portfolio. While the Rumion and Taisor posted healthy gains, declining volumes for the Innova range, Hyryder and Glanza more than offset the improvements elsewhere. The sales figures establish the extent of these changes, although they do not identify the reasons behind them.
