With first EV to be introduced in China by early 2020s, India is also part of new future strategy as Toyota found ‘last piece of the puzzle’

Toyota Motor Corporation has been said to be on the back foot for long in the battle for supremacy in the global electric vehicle market. However, the Japanese auto giant now reckons that it can get to the leading position thanks to the new innovations and sustainable technologies that are made available and being explored for future use.

It is largely due to the constantly evolving battery technologies and the conventionality the zero-emission vehicles will offer in the near future. The next-generation solid-state battery tech is tipped to help achieve a transition demanded by the industry from traditional IC-engined cars to EVs.

Toyota’s Executive Vice President Shigeki Terashi calls it as a dramatic change in stance during the strategy unveil in Tokyo and is confident of how things are going to unfold. The first electric vehicle is slated for the largest eco-friendly market in the world, China.
