Toyota Corolla Cross Facelift Debuts With Notable Changes Inside & Out

The 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross gets cosmetic updates limited to the front fascia while new features have also been added to the lineup

Following the price reveal a month ago, Toyota has showcased the facelifted Corolla Cross for the first time at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show. The cosmetic updates are limited to the front fascia as it gains a new grille section with hexagonal inserts taking inspiration from the Lexus RX – bringing a thoroughly refreshed vibe.

A subtle chrome bar runs through the sweptback headlamps and the turn signals have a sequential pattern. Other highlights are new faux air inlets, updated LED tail lamps and 17- or 18-inch alloy wheel choices. The interior has received a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a new 12.3-inch digital instrument console, and new Dark Red seat upholstery.

An EPB (Electronic Parking Brake) has come in place of the traditional unit and subsequently, the adaptive cruise control with stop and go accompanying a host of Toyota Safety Sense suite of safety and assistive technologies. The entry-level variant of the Corolla Cross continues to feature a 1.8L 2ZR-FBE flex-fuel Dual VVT-i engine.

It develops a maximum power output of 140 PS and 177 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a CVT automatic transmission. Other variants namely the HEV Premium, HEV Premium Luxury and GR Sport are equipped with an Atkinson-cycle VVT-i iteration capable of 98 PS and 142 Nm. It works in tandem with an electric motor delivering 72 PS and 163 Nm.

This leads to a combined system output of 122 PS. As for the prices, the base 1.8 Sport Plus is priced at 999,000 baht (Rs. 22.88 lakh) while the HEV Premium costs 1,094,000 baht (Rs. 25.08 lakh), HEV Premium Luxury at 1,204,000 baht (Rs. 27.58 lakh) and the range-topping HEV GR Sport at 1,254,000 baht (Rs. 28.72 lakh) in the Thai market.

The Japanese auto major considered seven-seater India-specific Corolla Cross for 2026 but the plans are reportedly shelved and new options are being evaluated. The brand will introduce the Taisor compact SUV coupe, based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx next week while its first electric SUV will arrive in the second half of next year in India.
