Suzuki Vitara S 140

292017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Facelift

Japanese automaker Suzuki has unveiled the new S-Cross facelift earlier in 2016 in Hungary. Later it was showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September before being launched in UK. This facelifted crossover is expected to launch in India sometime in late 2017. Demand for the compact SUVs and crossovers are very high in the country and Maruti Suzuki has seen success with the Vitara Brezza. Now the company wants to take that success story to another level with the upcoming facelifted S-Cross.

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross sports more aggressive appearance with new front fascia, incorporating vertically slated new radiator grille with plenty of chrome garnishing. It features refreshed sweptback headlamps with chrome detailing and LED daytime running lights. Front bumper looks massive and bold with large air intake, revised fog lamp area with chrome detailing. However, the side and rear profile of the facelifted S-Cross remains unchanged.

Like the exterior, inside the cabin too the car has received changes. It sports new colour scheme, updated instrument cluster and added dashboard trims. Expect it to come with improved seat and upholstery material, dual-zone climate control, auto dimming rear view mirror, rain sensing wiper, reverse parking camera.

Dimensionally, the facelift model arrives with similar length, width and height like the existing model. Only change comes in form of the ground clearance, which has been increased to 180 mm from 165 mm. The cabin offers same space.
On the powertrain front, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross could come with a 1.0-litre petrol engine or a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. On diesel front, the 1.3-litre motor could be discontinued.

The 1.0-litre engine is capable to generate 109 bhp of peak power and 170 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.4-litre turbocharged unit can produce 138 bhp of peak power and 220 Nm of peak torque. The 1.6-litre diesel unit delivers 118 bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque.

Expected launch – Late 2017
Expected price – Rs. 9 lakh – Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)
