Key features of Bajaj Dominar 400 include competitive pricing, performance engine, attractive exterior, new centre console and its flagship status

Bajaj Auto appears to have commenced the dealer dispatch of its premium 400 cc naked motorcycle on full-swing. It is expected to be launched sometime this month but what name it would carry is still subjected to discussions. We revealed yesterday that the bike could be rechristened as Dominar 400 from the largely touted Kratos 400 nomenclature.

With the topic of its moniker not settling, we already know how the motorcycle would look like and what all will it have. Here we have compiled the top five features from the all-new flagship 400 cc sporty performance model:

Bajaj Dominar 400 High Performance Engine:

The Bajaj Dominar 400 premium motorcycle will extract power from a single-cylinder, four-valve, 373.2 cc motor that presently does duty in the KTM Duke 390. It will be liquid-cooled and fuel injected to generate a maximum power output of 35 PS at 8,000 rpm – 9 PS lesser than the KTM 390 siblings.

It will come linked with a six-speed manual gearbox and the engine could deliver a fuel efficiency of around 30 kmpl while being able to hit a top speed of around 160-165 kmph.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Luring Exterior Design:

Bajaj debuted the Pulsar CS400 at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, which is the concept version of the Dominar or Kratos 400. It was displayed along with the Pulsar SS400 fully-faired performance motorcycle that gave birth to the range-heading RS200 with most of the styling carried forward from the concept.

In a similar fashion, the Dominar 400 production model looks identical to the naked concept while sharing components with the KTM Duke 390 that has been a tremendous hit. The Bajaj Dominar 400 boasts 200NS’ silhouette with aggressive and large headlight.

It will have a flat handlebar setup, sculpted tank, stepped saddle seat instead of split seats, body cowls, etc. It will have large alloy wheels, drilled disc brakes up front and at the back. Unlike the single channel ABS offered as optional in the RS200, the new 400cc bike may opt for a dual channel unit.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Full Digital Instrument Panel:

It will come adorned with LCD display on the fuel tank and digital instrument cluster as seen on the concept. Gear shift indicator are with white backlight and the console will come with all the vital details like speed indication, top speed, amount of fuel available, side stand indicator warning and so on. It’s a major step considering the conventional part digital/analog used by Bajaj currently.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Heralds New Brand:

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is considered to be one of the most significant products ever to come out of the home-grown brand. Courtesy of KTM, Bajaj has enjoyed plenty of successes in the international scenes over the years. However, in the domestic premium space Bajaj is yet to stamp its authority. Therefore, the Dominar 400, which will kick start a new journey with a separate premium brand, will be of immense importance.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Aggressive Price:

The Bajaj Dominar 400 could be priced slightly lower than the KTM Duke 390 as the likelihood of prices to feature in the region between Rs. 1.6 lakh and Rs. 1.8 lakh are highly likely. When launched, it could become the most affordable performance cruiser in the Indian two-wheeler market.
