2019 Honda Civic will be officially launched on March 7 and sold in both petrol and diesel engine options
Honda Cars India is all pumped to launch the new Civic in just 6 days as the popular nameplate is making a comeback after more than six years of absence. The Japanese manufacturer showcased both the CR-V and Civic at the 2018 Auto Expo and they were well received among spectators.
Towards the end of last year, Honda introduced the CR-V as promised while the Civic is the next in line to consolidate the brand’s premium appeal in the domestic market. The tenth generation version can now be ordered across authorised dealerships present in the country for initial token of Rs. 31,000.
While the eighth generation Civic was discontinued due to lack of a diesel engine, Honda is not making the same mistake again as for the first time, the D-segment sedan does get a gas guzzler in the form of a 1.6-litre i-DTEC EarthDreams DOHC four-cylinder unit. The same motor debuted in the CR-V producing 120 PS and 300 Nm. The 1.8-litre i-VTEC unit makes 141 PS and 174 Nm and is paired to only a CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
There are some interesting features to note down and here are the seven of them ahead of its launch:
1. Most Fuel Efficient Engine In Its Class:
The new Civic’s 1.6-litre diesel engine has class-leading fuel efficiency of 26.8 kmpl and is mated only to a six-speed manual transmission. It is more frugal than the City diesel.
2. Electronic Parking Brake With Brake Hold:
There are a slew of segment-first features the new Honda Civic offers including the Electronic Parking Brake with Brake Hold. It helps in stop-and-go traffic scenario and can be activated by pulling a switch easily.
3. Agile Handling Assist:
The Agile Handling Assist in another handy technology that aids in maintaining the car’s stability mainly while cornering by individually braking the inside wheels.
4. Walk Away Locking:
The Walk Away Locking function does have a significant role if you often forget locking your cars. When you move away from the new Civic by about 2.5 m with keys in hand, it automatically activates the locks.
5. Lane Watch System:
The Lane Watch system feeds the output from the camera positioned on the left-hand side mirror and onto the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen helping in safer manoeuvrability especially when switching lanes.
6. Side Marker Lamps:
Side marker lights function as auxiliary safety lights for other drivers to see and enhance visibility of the vehicle for other motorists. Another important feature to note is the remote engine starter in the petrol variant.
7. Alluring Exterior:
The sporty exterior is going to play into the hands of the new Civic as it is a well-established design globally. The front has sharp sweptback headlamps and chrome embellishments while the rear has boomerang-styled LED tail lamps compounding the overall styling.
