With a growing demand for CNG cars in the country, many car brands are expanding their CNG portfolio in the market with the launch of many new VFM and practical offerings. Here is a list of the top 6 upcoming CNG SUVs that you should wait for.

1. Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG

The Brezza takes on the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon in the sub-4m compact SUV segment and will soon be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit. It is also likely to be the first CNG SUV to be offered with an automatic gearbox and will be made available in 7 variants. Powering the Brezza CNG will be the same 1.5L K15C Bi-Fuel CNG engine that churns out 87 bhp and 112 Nm of maximum torque.

2. Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG

The launch of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG was recently confirmed by Toyota in India. Once launched, the UC Hyryder CNG will be the first CNG midsize SUV and will be powered by Maruti’s 1.5L K15C petrol engine. This engine is likely to produce close to 90 bhp in the CNG mode and will offer a claimed fuel economy of over 26 km/kg.

3. Maruti Grand Vitara CNG

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara is currently the most expensive SUV in the brand’s line-up and is soon expected to be offered with a CNG powertrain. It will also utilise the same 1.5L K15C Bi-Fuel engine and might be offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options. More details will soon be shared by the brand ahead of the launch.

4. Tata Nexon CNG

The Tata Nexon is one of the safest offerings in the sub-4m Compact SUV segment and is offered with two powertrain options – 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel. The brand is soon expected to launch the Nexon CNG for buyers looking for a feature-rich and dynamically sorted CNG SUV in India and is likely to offer it with a 1.2L Bi-Fuel engine. The official specs are yet to be known.

5. Kia Sonet CNG

The Sonet is also expected to soon get a CNG powertrain and will challenge the rivals like the upcoming Maruti Brezza CNG and the upcoming Nexon CNG in the market. It is likely to be the first Kia CNG car in India and is expected to be offered with a 1.0L turbo engine. In its petrol avatar, this turbo petrol engine churns out a peak power output of 118 bhp and 172 Nm of maximum torque. The Korean carmaker is believed to launch the new Sonet CNG in India somewhere next year.

6. Tata Punch CNG

The Tata Punch is positioned as the brand’s first micro-SUV in the country and will soon be offered with a CNG powertrain. From what we know so far, the Punch CNG is likely to get a 1.2L NA engine that will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. We see a similar setup being offered with the Tiago CNG and the Tigor CNG in India. The Punch CNG is said to make its debut next year and will be one of the safest CNG cars in India.
