Top 10 Selling Sedans in April 2017: Tata Tigor Makes Strong Impression

Top 10 selling sedans in April 2017 witnessed the newly launched Tata Tigor overhauling some of the mainstay products in the subcompact segment

The top place in the best-selling sedans chart witnessed Swift Dzire registering pretty low sales compared to its usual standards as the brand welcomes an all-new generation of the compact sedan from this month. With it being popular among fleet operators and regular users, Maruti Suzuki is eyeing big on the new Dzire. It is more likely to take over what the old model achieved so far.

As similar to the premium hatchback segment where Baleno and Elite i20 fight tooth and nail, the B-segment arena for sedans has registered Ciaz and City running closer to each other from the very beginning. However, in April 2017, Ciaz had the upper hand over the new facelift of City. It led the Japanese sedan by well over 1,000 units. At fourth position was the facelifted Xcent subcompact sedan that always plays second-fiddle to the Maruti Swift Dzire.

With a total sale of 4,446 units, the Xcent is running strongly in second position in its segment ahead of the new entrant Tigor. Tata Motors’ all-new subcompact Tigor sedan has instantly impressed soon after its launch as 3,638 units were delivered in its first full month of presence in the market. It has bunched up the competition in the already crowded field and overtook Etios and Amaze that were positioned sixth and seventh respectively.

It is slotted below the Zest which swept 1,985 examples of sale last month and was down in eighth position. Ford’s highly capable Figo Aspire sedan started the new year in a positive way with 2,470 units but the momentum has slightly faded away as the sales figure was down by over 500 units as 1,961 units were sold at ninth.

Volkswagen launched its India-specific Ameo sedan last year and it is moving quite well as it rounded out the sales table last with 1,270 units.
