Top 10 selling scooters in April 2019 chart witnessed recent launches like TVS Ntorq and Hero Destini 125 making a huge impact
The fourth month of 2019 saw Honda Activa continuing to be on top of the scooter standings as 2,10,961 units were sold but the brand endured a huge setback in overall sales of nearly 32 per cent as the significant contributing Activa suffered 38 per cent YoY sales fall.
It is no secret that the monthly sales volume of Activa will heavily impact the cumulative numbers of Honda and the de-growth in recent months for the scooter took the toll as expected. TVS Jupiter maintained its second position from Suzuki Access ever since regaining the position from Suzuki Access back in February 2019.
With 54,948 units, the Jupiter faced a negligible 3 per cent negative growth in April 2019 to finish ahead of the best-selling 125 cc scooter in India, the Access. The Jupiter played an integral part in TVS maintaining third place among manufacturers with the growth of 2.8 per cent when Hero MotoCorp and Honda recorded 16.2 and 31.9 per cent sales declines last month.
|S.No||Top 10 Selling Scooters In April 2019||Number Of Units|
|6.||Hero Destini 125||16,301|
Suzuki Access 125 registered an appreciable 12 per cent sales growth in April 2019 as 48,463 units were sold against 43,354 units in the corresponding month in 2018. Honda’s consistently selling Dio came home fourth with 46,501 units after having posted 13 per cent sales increase.
TVS’ Ntorq 125 has been highly impressive since making debut in the domestic market in early 2018 and 20,684 units were retailed last month with 70 per cent growth. The same applies to Hero Destini 125 as 16,301 units were dispatched in April 2019 for sixth place. The economic advantage the i3S technology gives is a big plus for the homegrown scooter.
Yamaha’s top-selling scooter in India has long been the Fascino and last month was no different as 14,873 units were sold to stay ahead of Honda Grazia which could not maintain good sales momentum in recent months. Hero’s Pleasure and Yamaha Ray rounded out ninth and tenth respectively with 10,689 and 10,336 units.
