The sales table of the top 10 compact SUVs in March 2024 saw Tata Punch finishing ahead of Brezza, Nexon, Fronx, Venue and Sonet in India
In March 2024, Tata Punch emerged as the top performer in the compact SUV segment sales charts, with a domestic tally of 17,547 units. This marked an impressive year-on-year growth of 61%. Meanwhile, its sibling, the Tata Nexon, secured the third position with a total of 14,058 units, lower than the previous year’s figure of 14,769 units with a 5 per cent volume drop.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza secured the second position in the sales standings with a total of 14,614 units sold in March 2024. However, this figure represented a year-on-year volume drop of 10 per cent, compared to 16,227 units sold during the same period twelve months ago. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has garnered a positive reception from customers since its market debut in 2023.
The compact SUV coupe performed well, recording sales of 12,531 units and securing the fourth position in the sales charts last month. The Hyundai Venue secured the fifth position with a total of 9,614 units. This led to a year-on-year negative sales growth of 4 per cent, compared to 10,024 units sold during the same period last year.

Following closely, the Kia Sonet recorded sales of 8,750 units, marking a modest year-on-year growth of 1 per cent, and finished in the sixth position. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Exter came in at seventh with a domestic sales tally of 8,475 units in March 2024. The Nissan Magnite could only manage eighth with 2,701 units against 3,260 units.
This resulted in a YoY negative volume growth of 17 per cent. The Mahindra XUV300 ended up ninth with 2,072 units as against 5,128 units during the same period twelve months ago with a YoY sales de-growth of 60 per cent. The Renault Kiger rounded out the top ten with 1,050 unit sales as against 1,568 units with a decline of 33 per cent.
Recently, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Fronx, made its entry into the market, adding to the array of compact SUV options available to consumers. Additionally, the facelifted version of the Mahindra XUV300, known as the XUV 3XO, is set to make its official debut on April 29, 2024.
