
Tata recorded 65,253 units in August 2026 as its volumes were up 59 per cent from 41,001 units in the same month last year. The total also rose 4 per cent from 62,611 units in July 2026. The Punch finished at the top of Tata’s model-wise sales chart with 21,320 units ahead of the Nexon at 18,431 units and Tiago at 8,537 units.
These three models accounted for 48,288 units during the month. The Punch micro SUV nearly doubled its August 2025 tally – upping from 10,704 units to 21,320 units for a 99 per cent YoY increase. Its monthly number was almost unchanged with July sales standing at 21,313 units. Its sibling, the Nexon, occupied second place with 18,431 units.
The compact SUV’s sales numbers were up 32 per cent from 14,004 units a year ago. Its MoM volume increased 5 per cent from 17,471 units. The entry-level Tiago secured third position with 8,537 units compared with 5,250 units in August 2025. The hatchback posted a 63 per cent YoY increase and also improved 15 per cent over its July tally of 7,429 units.

The recently launched Sierra nameplate came next with 5,622 units but its monthly number fell 11 per cent from 6,327 units recorded in July. It is available in an expansive range with ICE and electric options. The Harrier recorded 3,577 units last month – up 16 per cent from 3,087 units in the corresponding month last year.
Its monthly sales also increased 8 per cent from 3,301 units. The Altroz premium hatch finished just below it with 3,047 units as its figures were down 23 per cent from 3,959 units in August 2025. Compared with July’s 2,862 units, however, the model posted a 6 per cent increase. The Safari registered 1,953 units with an increase of 31 per cent from 1,489 units a year earlier.

It also saw the biggest MoM increase among the listed Tata models at 34 per cent – surging from 1,453 units in July. The Curvv ended August with just 1,904 units by registering identical 12 per cent increases on both YoY and MoM comparisons. The Tigor completed the chart with 862 units as its sales rose 7 per cent YoY from 805 units and 14 per cent from 758 units in July.
Tata’s sales tally was built around substantial gains from the Punch, Nexon and Tiago with the three accounting for nearly three-fourths of the company’s total volume. The Safari also posted a notable monthly increase and the Harrier, Curvv and Tigor finished above both their August 2025 and July 2026 numbers.
