Tata Posts 54,000+ Unit Sales In January 2024 – Nexon, Punch, Tiago

In January 2024, Tata Motors Limited reported the sale of 86,125 vehicles in the domestic and international markets, reflecting a growth compared to the 81,069 units sold in January 2023. The local sales of the MH&ICV (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles) segment, comprising both trucks and buses, reached 14,440 units, a slight decrease from the 14,716 units posted during the same period last year.

The total volumes for MH&ICV in both domestic and international business in January 2024 amounted to 14,972 units, showing a modest decline from the 15,057 units reported in January 2023. In the passenger vehicle space, the Mumbai-based manufacturer registered a total of 53,633 units last month as against 47,987 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago.

This led to a YoY sales increase of 12 per cent. Tata sold 400 units in the foreign markets as against 302 units in January 2023 with a YoY positive volume growth of 32 per cent. The brand impressed again in garnering electric vehicle sales as 6,979 units were recorded, both domestic and international markets combined, as against 4,133 units with a huge growth of 69 per cent.

The recently facelifted models have been performing well as the new Nexon has emerged as the best seller ahead of the Punch micro SUV.

The Tata Punch’s range was expanded recently with the inclusion of the electric variant carrying a starting price of Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom). At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, Tata unveiled the production versions of the Curvv and Harrier EV. The former will go on sale first in its EV guise in the coming months while the latter will be introduced in late 2024.

Tata will also bring in the Altroz Racer and Nexon CNG this year and both are on display at the motoring show in New Delhi. The company is also planning to launch the Altroz EV and Sierra EV in 2025 as it looks to leverage the opportunities presented in the burgeoning electric vehicle segment by having an expansive range.
