Tata Nexon sees refreshed features list on the back of new rivals such as Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300

Tata Motors has the Nexon as its most consistent seller besides Tiago in the domestic market. Since going on sale in September 2017, the Nexon has been a force to reckon with in the sub-four-metre SUV segment by regularly finishing ahead of Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V in the second position behind the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The Nexon is diligently presented in the space with an aggressive price bracket. Its wide range of petrol and diesel engine options with manual and AMT choices add to the benefits, however, the Nexon has been facing the heat of new entrants such as the Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. The latter debuted back in February 2019 while the Venue has been setting the sales charts on fire since its official entry in May.

Resultantly, the Nexon had to relinquish its second position in the segment sales despite maintaining its usual average of more than 4,000 units. On the back of it, the homegrown automaker has revised the SUV’s features to make it appeal for a wider band of buyers.

For instance, the top-spec XZ+ and XZA+ variants are now fitted with 12 V power outlets behind the rear seat and glossy piano black finish instead of satin chrome in the door trim. Furthermore, the XT, XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ trims get newly designed roof rails and upgraded rear AC vents with air flow adjuster up front.

The XM, XMA and XT trims of Nexon, on the other hand, gain new antenna and aesthetic improvements in the entertainment system. The XM, XMA, XT and XZ are subjected to a range of updates as they come with glossy grey finish in place of silver on the dashboard mid-pad, glossy piano black finish on gear lever knob and centre console instead of silver as well as glossy piano black garnish around AC vents in place of matte black.

No mechanical changes have been made though as the Nexon continues to use the turbocharged 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engines with six-speed manual and six-speed AMT transmission choices.
