
Tata Motors has revealed that it has registered its highest ever quarterly sales in Q2 FY27 with 2,01,723 units across domestic and international markets. The total rose 40 per cent YoY from 1,44,397 units in Q2 FY26. September closed the quarter with total passenger vehicle sales above 70,000 units which include domestic volumes of 68,810 units and international sales of 1,400 units.
The domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 1,96,674 units during Q2 FY27 – up 40 per cent from 1,40,189 units a year earlier. Its international business contributed 5,049 units against 4,208 units with an increase of 20 per cent. The volumes last month rose 15 per cent on a YoY basis from 59,667 units to 68,810 units and international sales increased 13 per cent from 1,240 units to 1,400 units.
The company’s electric vehicle sales reached a quarterly record of 47,150 units with an increase of 90 per cent from 24,855 units in Q2 FY26. EVs accounted for 23 per cent of Tata Motors’ quarterly sales compared with around 8 per cent penetration for the industry. Last month, its EV volumes stood at 15,384 units against 9,191 units last year – up 67 per cent.

CNG models also posted their highest ever quarterly sales and accounted for 28 per cent of Tata’s Q2 FY27 tally. EVs and CNG vehicles together contributed 51 per cent of sales during the quarter. Tata Motors said industry Vahan volumes rose around 24 per cent YoY during Q2 FY27 as well. Its passenger vehicle sales increased 40 per cent over the same period with a difference of 16 percentage.
The company attributed the quarter partly to higher utilisation of greener powertrains with EV and CNG sales both setting new quarterly records. The Punch became India’s best-selling SUV during the quarter and the company also added Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and the Tata Aeris to its portfolio after product activity in Q1 FY27.

The month of September took Tata Motors past 70,000 unit sales mark as Q2 FY27 closed at 2,01,723 units. EV penetration reached 23 per cent against the cited industry level of around 8 per cent and CNG contributed another 28 per cent. The reported figures put the company’s EV and CNG share at 51 per cent for its record quarter.
