Tata Motors partners Microsoft to develop connected cars for the Indian market; first demonstration at upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March

Tata Motors has partnered with the global technology leader Microsoft to develop in car technology for the upcoming models. The first model to get the new technology offering an unique driving experience will be displayed at the upcoming 87th Geneva Motor Show next month.

Tata Motors claims that this strategic agreement between the automaker and the tech firm will ensure that Indian customers get a redefined connected and personalized driving experience. The future Tata cars will be benefitted from Microsoft’s connected vehicle technologies. The system combines the artificial intelligence, advanced machine learning and the internet of things techs. Also, the upcoming Tata vehicles will come equipped with Microsoft Azure cloud service.

Thanks to the Microsoft Azure cloud service installed in the upcoming Tata cars, the owners will receive several informations like nearest shopping, point of interest destinations and route assistance based on their profile and location of the car. The system will provide information like vehicle health data and also deliver pre-emptive service alert to the owner.

The owner will be able to update several key vehicle settings remotely using the Microsoft Azure cloud service. This service will use industry leading Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) and Software Over the Air (SOTA) update protocols. The vehicle owners will be able to increase the safety and optimize performance using the service. Apart from that, he or she will receive several informations regaring location, traffic, parking solution, etc.

Speaking about the agreement, Tata Motors Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mr. Guenter Butschek has said, the company will create a fully connected and seamless driving experience for the customers by using the Microsoft technologies. Microsoft is also very excited about its association with Tata Motors. It aims to enrich the Indian customer’s driving experience further.
