Tata AMT Buses Launched in India from Rs. 21 Lakh

Tata AMT buses come with seating capacity between 23 and 54 passengers; size ranging from 9 metres to 12 metres

Tata Motors has launched AMT equipped buses in India priced from Rs. 21 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).These buses come as fully built units and they have seating capacity between 23 and 54 passengers depending on different variants. These buses have been built specially keeping the heavy city traffic in mind. The move comes right after Eicher introduced AMT technology to its trucks and buses.

The Tata AMT buses come available in different sizes ranging between 9 meter and 12 meter. The buses have been introduced in the Tata Motors’ Starbus and Ultra range of buses and the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) technology will release the drivers from constant process of pressing clutch and shifting gears. Also, it will enhance the safety and convenience in dense city traffic situations.

The AMT technology offers different driving modes like Economy and Power. These buses also get features like crawler mode, hill hold and kick down. The hill start aid function in the AMT buses will allow smooth start without rollback. Tata Motors claims that these AMT buses will significantly reduce mechanical wear and lower maintenance cost. Also, these vehicles are promised to save fuel up to 3% and much more environment friendly as they come powered by BS-IV engines.

Speaking about the launch of AMT buses, Mr. Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, commercial vehicles, Tata Motors has said, the company has always led transformation in the Indian commercial vehicle industry by introducing new products and services. He believes that launch of these AMT buses will bring a wave of change in the industry. It is expected that inspired by Tata’s move other bus manufacturers present in the country market will also adopt similar technology.

Tata Motors has developed this AMT technology for these buses in cooperation with WABCO. The company says it will continue to work with partners like this to develop and introduce new products with best-in-class technology. These buses are promised to be delivering enhanced comfort to the passengers apart from releasing the driver from constant process of clutch pressing and gear changing.
