Tata January 2024 Sales Analysis – Nexon, Punch, Harrier, Tiago

Tata posted 53,635 units in January 2023 as against close to 48,000 units with a YoY sales growth of 11.8 per cent in India

Tata Motors continues to remain third in the overall manufacturers’ sales standings behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in January 2024 as 53,635 units were sold. The gap between the second-placed Hyundai and Tata continues to be around 3,000-3,500 units. Compared to the same period last year with close to 48,000 units, a YoY sales growth of 11.8 per cent was noted.

In comparison to the previous month of December 2023 with 43,471 units, a MoM volume increase of 23.4 per cent was endured. The homegrown auto major garnered a market share of 13.6 per cent as against 13.9 per cent with a drop of 0.3 per cent on a YoY scale. Tata has lately been introducing facelifted models on a regular basis.

The arrival of the heavily updated Nexon, Harrier and Safari along with the all-new Punch EV and the new CNG models has aided in further expanding its portfolio while keeping its entire lineup fresh. In 2024, Tata is planning to bring in the Curvv EV as well as the Curvv ICE, Harrier EV and other models.

In January 2024, the Punch outsold Nexon to sit at the top of the sales table with a total of 17,978 units as against 12,006 units during the same period last year with a YoY sales surge of 50 per cent. The Nexon recorded a total of 17,182 units as against 15,567 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY growth of 10 per cent.

The Tata Tiago compact hatchback finished in the third position with 6,482 units against 9,032 units – resulting in a YoY sales decline of 28 per cent while its sibling, the Tigor compact sedan, finished last with 1,539 units against 3,106 units with a YoY decline of 50 per cent. The AMT CNG versions of both models were launched a few months ago.

The Tata Altroz finished fourth with 4,935 units as against 5,675 units in January 2023 with a YoY de-growth of 13 per cent. The Safari and Harrier slotted in fifth and sixth places respectively with 2,893 units and 2,626 units. The former posted a YoY growth of 180 per cent while the latter registered 67 per cent.
