Hyundai Sante Fe is currently the flagship SUV of the Korean manufacturer. The SUV segment is rising from small compact suv to full sized luxury models. Hyundai is keen to join the growing luxury SUV segment and the company has revealed HDC-2 Grandmaster concept at the 2018 Busan International Auto Show.
This concept is the follow up of HDC-1 Le Fil Rogue Concept which was revealed earlier. These concepts show the new design direction of Hyundai SUVs. The company hasn’t confirmed whether there will be a production model for the HDC-2 Grandmaster but we could be in for a surprise next year just like the concept which was not expected.

The front design of the HDC-2 Grandmaster is dominated by the signature cascading grille of the Hyundai followed by small LED headlamps. The bumper has silver finished for skid plates along with big hood gives muscular look for the concept. Hyundai has also given high ground clearance for the concept which is again a trademark for SUVs.
The side design is simple and muscular like traditional SUVs. Hyundai has given massive wheels and the wheel arches are also bigger to accommodate these wheels but the production version will be more civilized. Like all the concepts, this one also doesn’t get mirrors and instead the company has given camera.

The rear design of HDC-2 takes some inspiration from Range Rover with big tail lamps which extend to the bumper. Overall the concept looks different and could give a fresh air feel for the company. We can expect the production version of HDC-2 to get combustion, hybrid and possible EV powetrain options also.
We can expect Hyundai to reveal details about the luxury SUV in coming months and the Korean manufacturer is working on a sub 4 metre SUV for the Indian market. Hyundai recently revealed Kona compact SUV which is selling really well in European market and the company is also planning to launch EV version of Kona for Indian market.
