Skoda Rapid Beats Toyota Yaris In September 2018 Sales

With a sales of 931 units, the Skoda Rapid turns out to be more popular than Toyota Yaris (595 units) in the month of September 2018

The Skoda Rapid, which is the most affordable Skoda sedan you can buy in India, sold much more than the Toyota Yaris in the month of September 2018. While the sales of Yaris was limited to only 595 units in the month of September 2018, the Rapid sold 931 units in the same period.

The Skoda Rapid was recently launched in an Onyx edition that is sold in an exclusive Lapiz Blue paint shade. Other than the new paint, it’s also available in a white colour scheme. The new model is available in all engine and transmission options, which means the new model is on sale with a 1.6-litre petrol engine with MT and AT and a diesel engine with a MT and an AT. They have priced at Rs 9.75 lakh, Rs 10.00 lakh, Rs 11.58 lakh, and Rs 12.73 lakh respectively.

The Toyota Yaris is the latest entrant in the C2 sedan segment. It goes on to rival the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, and Skoda Rapid. Just after the launch of the Yaris, Skoda has come up with a new special edition of the Rapid, which should help it ward off the competition from its latest Japanese rival.

The launch of the Skoda Rapid Onyx is a part of the company’s India 2.0 strategy, as a part of which the group will make investments worth 1 billion euros (approximately INR 8,000 crore).

The Toyota Yaris has been on sale in four trim levels – J, G, V and VX. The fully loaded variant comes with several premium features like an 8-way power adjustable front seat, projector headlamp, cruise control, rear parking sensors and more.

Powering the sedan is a1.5-litre Dual VVT-I engine that outputs a maximum power of 109 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission.
