Skoda Octavia RS 245 comes with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine as VW Golf GTI to produce 245 PS and 370 Nm; 0-100 kmph in just 6.6 seconds
Skoda’s much-loved performance based Octavia has come a full circle once again as the latest RS 245 edition sold globally has been launched in the Indian market at Rs. 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered locally through CBU channel and the production has been limited to just 200 units. The Octavia has gained a new generation in the international markets but the RS 245 for India depends on the existing model.
The brand new 2020 Skoda Octavia is expected to reach showrooms only towards the later stages of 2020. The all-important powertrain is the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder TSI petrol engine tuned to produce a maximum power output of 245 PS and 370 Nm of peak torque, as same as Golf GTI. It is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission driving all the four wheels.
The Skoda Octavia RS 245 is claimed to reach 100 kmph from zero in just 6.6 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph. It is one of the hardcore driver’s sedans available in the market at an accessible price tag and it comes equipped with a range of driver assistive and safety features. Compared to the standard Octavia, the RS 245 gets sportier exterior enhancements.
Some of the aesthetic highlights include bigger 19-inch alloy wheels with black rims, LED DRLs, black front grille with RS badge, faux rear diffuser, redesigned bumpers up front and rear, wider air inlets, boot lid spoiler, C-shaped tail lights and so on. The enhanced exterior with lower ground clearance of 15 mm compared to the regular model has made the Octavia RS 245 a certain looker.
The RS 245 gains a limited slip differential to prevent excessive power from being sent to one wheel, stiffer suspension for better handling characteristics, and upgraded brake system for better stopping power and all these will add up to improved dynamics over the previous RS model that was sold out quickly in no time.
Stepping inside the cabin, you could find several updates including a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, black themed interior, electrically adjustable sports seats up front, contrast seat stitching on Alcantara leather, updated eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster.
