Maruti Suzuki is the biggest carmaker in India in volume and the company has more than 50 per market share as they are looking to achieve new targets in 2019 with the launch of next generation and new models in different segments. In this article, we are featuring the upcoming cars from Maruti Suzuki.

1. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

Maruti is planning to launch the new generation Wagon R in early 2019 and the India-spec model is different from the JDM version as the company has given an evolutionary design theme. The front get new headlamps along with bumper and rear also get new tail lamps but the overall design is same.

The interior will be completely different from the outgoing model as the company will add modern features to compete against new rivals and the spacious cabin will be retained. The 1.0 L engine from the current model might get some updates to make it more efficient with the same gearbox combinations and the new model will be priced slightly higher than its predecessor.

2. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol

The S-Cross is the only proper crossover model currently available in India and the facelift model is doing good numbers as the company is going to introduce petrol variant of S-Cross soon as it is currently only available with a diesel engine.

The petrol engine will be the newly developed 1.5 L unit from Ciaz and it produces 104 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto. To improve efficiency, Maruti has given smart-hybrid technology and we can expect around 20 Km/l. The S-Cross petrol model might be priced below the diesel model.

3. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross

Maruti Suzuki introduced the new generation Ertiga in November and the initial response for the MPV is really good. The company is planning to expand the Ertiga lineup with a new cross variant and most of the changes are focused on aesthetics only. The front gets chrome finished grille similar to S-Cross along with new bumper with black plastic inserts and skid plates at front and rear.

The company has given a new set of alloy wheels along with new colour options. We can expect ground clearance to be increased slightly. The interior and engines will be carried over from the current model and this new variant will be positioned at a premium.

4. Toyota Corolla Based Sedan

As part of the new partnership between Suzuki and Toyota, the latter will share its best selling sedan Corolla to Maruti Suzuki but the company will make lots of changes to make it in line with other models in the portfolio. The front gets new grille along with updated bumper and a new design for the headlamps and tail lamps.

We can expect new alloy wheels and the interior might be carried over from Toyota. The Corolla is currently offered with both petrol and diesel engine, which will be shared with Maruti Suzuki and it will be the flagship product of the company in India. The launch is expected to take place in the second half of 2019.

5. Maruti Suzuki Swift RS

After years of speculation, Maruti is finally planning to launch the Swift RS variant in India. The Swift RS is one of the most affordable performance hatchbacks in the global market as it is a true VFM product for enthusiasts. But the India-spec Swift RS will be slightly different as it gets sporty suspension with low ground clearance tuned for Indian conditions.

The engine will be the same 1.0 L Boosterjet unit from Baleno and it is expected to produce 108 hp, mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The Swift RS is expected to be priced below Baleno RS and launch might take place in the first half of 2019.

6. Maruti Suzuki Y1K

Maruti is currently working on a new micro-SUV and it is codenamed as Y1K. The production model will take lots of inspirations from the Concept Future S. The company want to give an SUV design theme and we can expect high ground clearance with good height for the Y1K.

The interior is also expected to be all new with lots of features. The upcoming micro-SUV could be powered by new 660 cc turbocharged petrol engine producing 51 PS and 63 Nm, mated to 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The Y1K is expected to make its market debut in next festival season.
