Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Hyundai Santro have been doing pretty well in the market and here are their sales tally in April 2019
The last six months have seen some of the eagerly anticipated models getting launched in India. While some have fared well in sales, others could not just live up to the competition. The Harrier introduced in January 2019 has received a good initial response and it continued on the momentum into the month of April.
The Harrier got the better of Nissan Kicks, Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson last month as 2,075 units were sold. Mahindra launched three brand new products since September 2018 as Alturas G4, Marazzo and XUV300 came in with huge expectations.
While the XUV300 and Marazzo have been well received among customers, the same cannot be said for Alturas G4 that sits in a segment dominated by Toyota Fortuner. It managed to register 166 units last months. The Marazzo MPV can be had in seven- or eight-seater configuration and is priced diligently between Ertiga and Innova Crysta.
|Models||No. Of Units in April 2019|
|Maruti Suzuki Wagon R||11,306|
|Maruti Suzuki Ertiga||8,087|
|Mahindra Alturas G4||166|
|Toyota Camry Hybrid||26|
In April 2019, 1,692 units of the Marazzo were dispatched. The XUV300, on the other hand, clawed up to the second position in the subcompact SUV segment and was the fourth most retailed SUV in India last month as 4,200 units were recorded. The second-gen Ertiga has proved to be another success story for Maruti Suzuki as 8,087 were sold.
The executive Camry hybrid sedan received a new generation in January and it has been doing decent numbers as 26 units were retailed last time out. Having entered the domestic market after more than six years of absence, the tenth generation Honda Civic continued to dominate its segment for the second month running as 369 units were delivered in April.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R and Hyundai Santro reignited an old rivalry as the former arrived in January 2019 and the latter has been around since October 2018. Both have been doing pretty good numbers as 11,306 units of Wagon R and 6,906 units of Santro were retailed last month.
