Hero Motocorp May 2019 Sales Analysis – Splendor, Passion, Maestro Sales Down

Hero Motocorp’s best selling Splendor motorcycle witnessed a massive 29 per cent decline in sales, while three motorcycles saw 100 per cent dip

The month of May, 2019 has been a rather disappointing one for the two-wheeler industry as it continues to showcase a decline in sales across the spectrum – including scooters and motorcycles. Indian auto giant Hero MotoCorp too has been feeling the crunch as all of its products that are on sale have seen a decline in sales.

The worst hit models are the Hero HF Dawn, the Hero Achiever and the Hero Karizma – all of which are still listed on sale on Hero MotoCorp’s website – that saw a decline in sales of a whopping 100 per cent as all of these motorcycles sold zero units. For comparison, the Hero HF Dawn had sold 548 units, the Hero Achiever had sold 1,584 units and the Hero Karizma had sold 17 units during May, 2018.

All other Hero Scooters are witnessing a steep decline in sales too with the Maestro registering a decline of 43 per cent (selling 13,423 units as compared to 23,509), the Hero Pleasure registering a decline of 26 per cent (selling 9,020 units as compared to 12,148) and the Hero Duet registering a decline of a massive 73 per cent (selling 5,353 units as compared to 19,741) as compared to the same month last year.

Coming to motorcycles, the Hero Passion registered a decline of 28 per cent (selling 69,663 units as compared to 96,389), the Hero Glamour registering a decline of a relatively less 4 per cent (selling 69,379 units as compared 72,104) and the Hero Xtreme registering a decline of 72 per cent (selling 462 units as compared to 1,669 units) during the same period in 2018.

The lesser affected unit has been the Hero HF Deluxe which registered a difference of 0 per cent in terms of sales by selling 1,83,255 units as compared to 1,84,131 units last year. Hero MotoCorp’s best-seller – the Hero Splendor also saw a steep decline of 29 per cent by clocking in 1,99,225 units as opposed to 2,80,763 units that it had registered during May, 2018.

Lastly, the newer models from the house of Hero MotoCorp have also clocked in decent sales. The Hero Destini 125 sold 16,752 units which makes it the best-selling scooter by the company last month. The newly launched Xpulse 200T sold 1,026 units whereas the Hero Xtreme 200R sold 1,536 units.
