DC Design has customized Sachin Tendulkar’s BMW i8; it gets lots of design changes at the front and rear for a unique look
Sachin Tendulkar is the brand ambassador of BMW in India and his garage include lots of BMW models like the 7-Series Individual, M5 Jahre Edition, M3, M4 and more. One of the unique BMW models he has is the i8 and it is one of his favourites too as he was spotted many times driving the i8 on the Mumbai roads.
Usually, Sachin doesn’t customise his cars but the latest images reveal that he has customised the i8 and the work has been done by DC Design, which is famous for their modification works. The changes start with the tweaked kidney grille and it looks aggressive along with redesigned front bumper and wider air intakes.
The side doesn’t get any design tweaks except for the new Anthracite HRE wheels. The rear also gets a new bumper with air-vents on the side and quad exhaust. Initially, the i8 was finished in pearl white colour then he changed the colour to Protonic Red and all the blue elements have been removed.
Globally, BMW has already introduced the Protonic Red colour on the i8. DC might have made some tweaks for the interior also. The India launch of i8 took place in 2015 and the electric-hybrid sports car is popular in the Indian market. The i8 is powered by a 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine along with an electric motor.
The turbocharged petrol engine puts out 231 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The electric motor, which is mounted on the front and rear axles produce 131 hp and 250 Nm. The power is sent to all four wheels and according to ARAI, the hybrid setup of i8 helps the performance car to return 47.45 Km/l.
BMW is offering the i8 with three drive modes – Comfort, Eco Pro and Sport. The i8 offers excellent performance as 0-100 kph in just 4.4 sec and top speed is limited to 250 km/h. The battery pack can be charged by plugging into a power socket and it will take 2.5 hours to charge the battery fully or it can be charged using the petrol engine also.
