The upcoming Nissan Micra is based on the CMF-B platform; looks sharper and aggressive in its new avatar aiming upmarket customers
The Japanese automaker, Nissan, officially debuted the new Nissan Micra that comes with a very aggressive design at last year’s Paris Motor Show before showcasing it at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. This car has been designed taking inspiration from the Sway concept displayed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and is radically different compared to its predecessor.
The new-gen Micra could enter the Indian market sometime in 2019 according to fresh reports emerged on the internet. While introducing the new Micra, Nissan used the catch-line; “A revolution is coming.” Truly, the car has adopted a revolutionary design language, which makes the otherwise small boring Micra premium, sporty and very appealing in its new avatar.
In India, the upmarket hatchbacks are becoming more and more popular as the customers seek cars with advanced features and premiumness rather than just using as a mode of transportation. This is the reason behind the popularity of cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 in the premium hatchback segment. In that case, arrival of the fifth-generation Nissan Micra will simply intensify the competition in the space and also customers will get another attractive option to choose.
This car will be built at the Renault’s Flins plant in France. Since the new Micra is meant for global markets, it will be built on the CMF-B platform developed by Nissan and Renault alliance but in India we may see the existing car being underpinned by the same old V platform with minor changes as a facelift but let’s hope not!
