The sales number of Renault Captur is disappointing as the company has not managed to sell more than 400 units in last three months

In 2017, Renault India was one of the consistent brands in the country with Kwid and Duster doing decent number all through the year. Since the new year, things have not been looking so good for Renault. The sales number of Captur is disappointing as the company has not managed to sell more than 400 units in last three months. Jeep Compass, which is more expensive than Captur, has managed to sell over 2,000 units on average between Jan-March 2018.

Renault launched Captur in November at an attractive price of Rs. 9.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Even though Captur was available with lots of customization options like Kwid, people didn’t accept Captur like Kwid or Duster. Renault dealerships are offering upto Rs 1.25 Lakhs discount on Captur to clear the stock reportedly as well.

In the coming months, we can expect Renault to launch some limited edition models to improve Kwid sales. Renault Lodgy registered steep 50% decline in January and February but the trend was reduced to 19% compared to March last year. The Duster also registered 33% and 34% decline in January and February comparatively.

Renault Lodgy and Duster have aged and the company must bring updates to keep the product moving forward in the market. The French company introduced new generation Duster already in global markets but it is yet to launch this model in India. We can expect Renault to launch new generation Duster sometime next year in India to improve sales its declining sales.
