The Ingolstadt-based auto major has released another teaser sketch revealing the aggressive front fascia of the production Q8
Audi has been busy previewing the forthcoming flagship Q8 SUV and it will compete against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe and BMW’s X6. Ahead of its debut on June 5, the much awaited model has been teased a number of times in the past weeks, topped off by a video series.
The Ingolstadt-based auto major has released another teaser sketch revealing the aggressive front fascia of the production Q8. It comes equipped with prominent sleek grille design, slim LED headlamps, raked out windscreen, big wheels and sharp wing mirrors complementing the previous official sketch of the rear end.
Do not get fooled by the teaser, as the production version will be a toned down and is based on the MLB Evo architecture, shared with the latest generation Q7 and Volkswagen’s Touareg. The flexible platform is also used by Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga.
Compared to the existing flagship SUV, the Q7, Audi will incorporate sportier handling characteristics with changes to the suspension and other technology bits. It will also be more premium than the Q7 along with boasting advanced driver assistance and safety features in response to the competition from Bentayga.
It will be powered by a variety of petrol and diesel engines. It includes a 2.0-litre turbocharged motor which is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 250 horsepower and there is also a V8 engine kicking out 355 hp. The high-spec S and RS variants should make around 530 hp, while a plug-in hybrid cannot be ruled out either.
