The fourth generation global Nissan X-Trail is expected to go on sale in 2024 in India with the distinctive e-Power system

Nissan showcased three SUVs in October 2022 as the X-Trail, Qashqai and Juke greeted the media ahead of the commencement of the X-Trail’s road test soon after. Over the last twelve months, the SUV has been caught multiple times in its testing guise and upon likely arrival next year, it will take on Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Isuzu MU-X, Skoda Kodiaq, etc.

Here we have attached the latest spy images of the X-Trail as a prototype was spotted undisguised near the Renault-Nissan alliance’s manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu. It sits on the CMF-C platform, which it shares with the latest Mitsubishi Outlander and uses an innovative self-charging hybrid system that integrates a 1.5-litre VC-Turbo petrol three-cylinder engine with a variable compression ratio.

This engine functions with the second-generation e-Power system and is claimed to deliver enhanced power, smooth operation, reduced noise, and improved overall efficiency. The X-Trail is also available in the international markets with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine transferring power to the front axle as standard while while the hybrid version features an all-wheel drive layout.

It is yet unknown which powertrain will be introduced in India but our safe bet is on the e-Power system. The front fascia of the 2024 Nissan X-Trail comprises a distinctive split headlamp arrangement and the signature V-motion chrome grille. The X-Trail nameplate has been in production since 2000 and is also retailed as the Rogue in many markets.

The fourth-generation X-Trail was launched in Japan in July 2022 with notable updates and it will more likely be the one heading to India. Some of the other design highlights are wraparound LED tail lamps, prominent skid plates at the front and rear, black finished pillars, robust rear haunches, and large-sized alloy wheels.

It boasts advanced connected car technology, a 10.8-inch Head-Up Display (HUD), Nissan’s ProPILOT suite featuring Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, 1500 W Bose audio, an adaptive LED lighting system, premium surface finishes and trims, leather seat upholstery and so on.
