Nissan Micra and Sunny Recalled For engine switch replacement as well as the airbags for 12,000 vehicles
Nissan in India may not got the success it intended despite launching global products, but it has a healthy brand image and needs a couple of products turn its fate in India. The Nissan Micra and Sunny were just about doing ok when the infamous Takata airbag recall happened couple of months back throughout the world. These Indian Nissan cars also got the airbags from the same company, which has effected millions of cars throughout the world that are mostly from all Japanese manufacturers and a few American and European companies in comparison. Takata goofed up big time as the person responsible for act is being held responsible for this quality issue.
Nissan in India is recalling in total of 2,70,000 vehicles which are mostly for Nissan Micra and Sunny. While these many vehicles will be checked for issues as these cars are a part of voluntary recall will have mostly get the engine switches changed. The 12,000 vehicles which have specifically recalled will get their airbags replaced mostly as few could have these issues and not all of them says Nissan. As usual, everything will be done of free of cost by Nissan India.
Other Japanese manufacturers in India also have done the same. The manufacturers is none other than Honda who replaced the Airbags in Civic, Accord and CRV for its customer free of cost. The Nissan owners should fix an appointment with their service center and get this issue rectified ASAP. The problem of the airbag is that when it inflates it lends out a shrapnel which could injure you instead of protecting you. Nissan has always been high towards safety concern in India by offering safety equipment in lower variants in every car they ever sold.
