Nissan Kicks vs Tata Harrier

In Our Nissan Kicks vs Tata Harrier comparison, we take a look at the specs, price, interior features, dimensions, and other details of the two new SUV models

The Tata Harrier and the Nissan Kicks are two new SUV models that are very close to launching in India. The Harrier is a Jeep Compass as well as a Hyundai Creta rival that should have a starting price of Rs 12 lakh launching on 23rd January. Whereas, the Nissan Kicks will be positioned half a segment lower and will be competing with the entry and mid versions of the Creta and the Maruti S-Cross launching on 22nd January.

One thing that is common between these two is that both of them are promising models that will not have a huge price difference between them. If you are an SUV buyer, you should definitely wait for the launch of both of these. Our Tata Harrier vs Nissan Kicks comparison here will tell you which of these will suit you better.

Nissan Kicks vs Tata Harrier – Price Difference

Tata Harrier Nissan Kicks
Base Price 12 Lakh 9.5 Lakh
Top Price 16 Lakh 13.5 Lakh

Like we said, these two SUVs won’t fall in the same segment and will have a slight price difference between them. However, you can expect some overlap between the prices of the base Tata Harrier and the top-end Nissan Kicks. On choosing the latter, you can benefit from a fully-loaded vehicle that has many likeable bits like a cooled glovebox, semi-digital speedo, and a user-friendly touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

On the flip side, opting for the base Tata Harrier will get you a ravishing looking car that has a more powerful engine and a world-class chassis. You also get more space, most of the essential features, and the benefit of a larger aftersales network.

Nissan Kicks vs Tata Harrier – Specs Difference

Tata Harrier Nissan Kicks
Engine 2.0-litre Kryotec Turbo-diesel
  • 1.5-litre K9K turbo-diesel
  • 1.5-litre H4K petrol
Peak Power/Torque 140 PS/350 Nm
  • 110 PS/240 Nm,
  • 106 PS/142 Nm

Among the two, the Tata Harrier will be available only with a diesel engine. Hence, all those who want a petrol SUV have no option but to choose the Nissan Kicks, which comes with a 1.5-litre H4K petrol motor outputting 106 PS and 142 Nm.

The diesel engine of the Kicks offers 110 PS and 240 Nm. Both of these engines come from the Renault Captur and are reliable units. Even the platform of the Nissan Kicks comes from the Renault Captur, which is actually based on a revised version of the Renault Duster’s platform. In comparison, the international version gets a more modern V platform of the Nissan-Renault alliance.

The Tata Harrier gets only a diesel engine option but is clearly the more powerful of the two models. It is powered by a revised version of the 2.0 Multijet II engine that powers the Jeep Compass. Dubbed Kryotec, the engine produces 140 PS and 350 Nm. This makes it much more powerful than the Nissan Kicks. Underpinning the Tata Harrier is the new Omega Arc platform derived from Land Rover Discovery Sport’s platform.

The diesel engines of both the SUVs come mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the petrol engine of the Kicks comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There doesn’t seem to be a clear winner of this part of Tata Harrier vs Nissan Kicks comparison.

Nissan Kicks vs Tata Harrier – Interior Features

The Tata Harrier looks simply fabulous and a lot like the H5X concept shown at the Auto Expo 2018. The interior, however, isn’t the same. Instead of the button-less design of the concept, it gets regular layouts and controls.

It also offers a chilled glovebox, automatic aircon, rear AC vents, multi-function steering wheel, and a digital speedometer.

Nissan Kicks Interior

Of course, among the two, it’s the Harrier that is better appointed but let’s not forget that it’s a costlier car and that you can get a fully-loaded Kicks for the price of an entry-level Harrier. The new Nissan SUV is the winner of this part of our Tata Harrier vs Nissan Kicks comparison as it offers more bang for the buch.

Specs – The Tata Harrier is the more powerful between the two but it’s the Nissan Kicks that offers a petrol engine. Hence, the buyer needs to choose accordingly.

Interior Features- Again, the Tata Harrier feels more premium, has more interior space, and more features. Of course, it costs much more too.

Dimensions- While both the vehicles offer segment-leading dimensions, it’s the Harrier that holds an upper hand.
