GST Impact: Nissan and Datsun Reduce Pricing of Cars by 3 Percent

Nissan has slashed pricing of its cars by up to Rs. 92,000, Datsun too reduced pricing by up to Rs. 46,000

Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan has reduced pricing of its cars by up to 3% across the entire portfolio in the country to offer the benefit of GST to the customers. With this, the auto giant joins the other brands rushing to offer price benefits thanks to the new tax system. The Terrano attracted the biggest reduction of Rs. 92,000 in ex-showroom pricing in Mumbai, while in Delhi it received price cut up to Rs. 17,000.

Nissan sells models like Micra hatchback Sunny sedan, Terrano SUV and the famous sportscar GT-R. The revised pricing of the GT-R is yet to be revealed. In the revised price list released after 1st July when GST rolled out across the country, all the Nissan offerings come priced cheaper by 3% compared to their pre-GST pricing. With this reduced pricing, Nissan expects the sells figure of these cars to be increased to some extent.

Not only Nissan, its subsidiary budget car brand Datsun too has reduced pricing of its cars. The Datsun Redi Go is cheaper by up to Rs. 34,000 in Mumbai, while the Go+ gets a price cut by Rs. 46,000 in Mumbai. However, in New Delhi, the pricing of Datsun models have been reduced by Rs. 2,000 – Rs. 3,000.

Despite being present in the domestic market for quite long time, Nissan is yet to grab a good spot in here. Now, the brand is aiming to improve its market share by launching new models here and introducing stylish design along with more features and advanced tech as well. Some of the upcoming products from the Japanese brand include the new generation Micra hatchback, Kicks compact SUV and X-Trail hybrid SUV.

Datsun too is preparing to launch the 1.0-litre version of the RediGo hatchback that will share the engine with the Renault Kwid. With the interestingly design, practicality of a city commuter and efficient powertrain, Redi Go has already received positive response within short span after launch. The bigger 1.-litre engine is expected to increase its appeal further.
