Toyota has not revealed any information about the next generation Land Cruiser yet. The Land Cruiser 200 has been around for so long in the international markets with subtle updates. Its replacement is understandably tight lipped despite the Prado, launched earlier this year in India, getting regular revisions.
However, recent rendering leaked on the internet claiming that it’s based on the real next-gen Land Cruiser could be legit, considering that the Instagram account was responsible for leaking the updated Land Cruiser three years back. The images were from a Japanese magazine indicating the new design language incorporated by the capable off-roading SUV.
If this is the real deal, we can expect its global iterations to be similarly aggressive and macho. The Land Cruiser always has a vintage road presence but its next generation model could buck the trend and be a radical departure to what has been perceived so far as it has a resounding ruggedness to its appeal.
The headlamps get a sharper design and are flanked by the upright grille with horizontal slats housing the signature Toyota badge. The front bumper is equally impressive with a cleaner design with inverted L-shaped fog lamps. The 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser is expected to measure a length of 4,950 mm, width of 1,980 mm and stands 1,920 mm tall.
It features 2,850 mm wheelbase and comes equipped with a 3.4-litre V6 petrol engine good enough to generate 422 PS, paired to a ten-speed automatic transmission. The overhauled exterior manages to maintain the SUV to be a modern Toyota, while several off-roading technologies will be incorporated as well.
It will get standard active Toyota Safety Sense suite and connectivity systems in many overseas markets. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Auto High Beams, Pre-Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, large touchscreen infotainment system, Qi mobile charger, etc are some of the expected features.
