Bajaj Auto is planning to introduce the next-gen Dominar 400 in India, according to recent media report. It is expected to use an all-new platform

The recently-launched Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has garnered attention, and now the two-wheeler manufacturer is working to develop the new Dominar 400 for the Indian market. When comparing the Bajaj Dominar 250cc and 400cc models to the Bajaj Pulsar lineup, it’s evident that the Dominar series has faced challenges in terms of sales performance and updates.

The Dominar range has only received a few additional features and new colours schemes in the last few years. However, now Bajaj is planning to likely introduce the new-gen Dominar 400 with major upgrades in India, as per a latest media report.

The report further suggests that the next-gen Bajaj Dominar 400 is in works and it will likely be based on a new-platform. Talking about the current-gen Dominar 400, it shares the underpinnings from KTM. Having said that, the motorcycle offers a good performance compared to the any Bajaj Pulsar available in the Indian market.

While the Bajaj Dominar range is well-suited for long-distance rides, daily commutes can indeed pose challenges due to the bikes’ weight. The Dominar 400 has a kerb weight of 193 kg. Hence, it is anticipated that the upcoming Bajaj Dominar will be built on a new platform. At its heart, the next-gen Bajaj Dominar 400 will likely utilise the same 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as the predecessor.

It will generate a peak power of 39.5 bhp and a max torque of 35 Nm. The engine comes mated with a six-speed manual gearbox. Furthermore, the upcoming Dominar is expected to get new alloy wheels, a box-type swingram and much more. The company will likely reduce the weight of the bike.

On the feature front, the new Bajaj Dominar 400 is expected to boast features, such as a digital TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes and switchable traction control system. More details about the upcoming Bajaj Dominar 400 will likely emerge in the coming months. Once launched, it will compete with the Triumph Speed 400 and Hero Maverick 400 in the Indian market.
