All-new 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is priced between Rs. 7.44 lakh and Rs. 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with a heap of changes
Maruti Suzuki is set out to make a huge impact with the newly launched second-generation Ertiga. The seven-seater MPV does come with a brand new package with several improvements over the outgoing model. In the context of reassuring its dominance in the mid-size MPV segment, Maruti Suzuki has made substantial visual and interior revisions.
They are accompanied by an in-house developed new petrol engine with SHVS technology for improved fuel efficiency as well. Maruti Suzuki and its suppliers have invested Rs. 900 crore in the development of the new generation model, as the brand is aware of the importance the MPV has in sustained volume sales over a long period.
The bigger dimensions meant the new Ertiga is longer, wider and taller offering more interior space with flexible boot volume that has also been increased appreciably. With so much to talk about, here are the price and variant wise differences between New and old Ertiga:
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Old vs New – LXi/LDi
Variants | New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga | Old Maruti Suzuki Ertiga |
LXi | Rs. 7.44 lakh | Rs. 6.34 lakh |
LDi | Rs. 8.84 lakh | Rs. 8.79 lakh |
The base LXi petrol version costing Rs. 7.44 lakh has a glaring difference of nearly Rs. 1.1 lakh over the outgoing entry-level petrol because of a number of reasons. For improved safety, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child mounts, reversing sensors, speed sensitive door locks, central locking, high-speed warning, projector headlamps, 3D LED tail lamps and tilt adjustable steering wheel are provides as standard.
However, the new LDi MT at Rs. 8.84 lakh is just Rs. 6,000 costlier compared to the old LDi as the engine has been carried over but the addition of new safety and other features make it sort of a bargain in the range.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Old vs New – VXi/VDi
Variants | New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga | Old Maruti Suzuki Ertiga |
VXi | Rs. 8.16 lakh | Rs. 7.77 lakh |
VDi | Rs. 9.56 lakh | Rs. 9.58 lakh |
VXi AT | Rs. 9.18 lakh | Rs. 8.68 lakh |
In fact, the tried and tested 1.3-litre SHVS diesel powertrain allows for less price difference compared to the similarly specced petrol version. In the mid-level VDi trim, the new Ertiga’s comparative pricing is almost negligible at Rs. 9.56 lakh.
The contrasting nature is that the VXi MT costs around Rs. 50,000 more than what it used to in the first generation Ertiga. The understandable variation is due to a slew of new equipment on board such as Steering-mounted audio and telephony controls, second row armrest, chrome finished gear knob, audio system with USB, and AUX and Bluetooth connectivity.
Other features include turn indicator integrated electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, door handles and ORVMs finished in body colour, 12V charging port in first and second row, Day/Night IRVM, rear AC vents, etc. Electronic Stability Program and Hill Hold Assist function are offered only in AT that has around Rs. 50,000 price increase in VXi.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Old vs New – ZXi/ZDi
Variants | New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga | Old Maruti Suzuki Ertiga |
ZXi | Rs. 8.99 lakh | Rs. 8.27 lakh |
ZDi | Rs. 10.39 lakh | Rs. 9.95 lakh |
ZXi AT | Rs. 9.95 lakh | ——- |
In the top-spec ZXi and ZDi variants, the comparative difference stands at Rs. 72,000 and Rs. 44,000 respectively while the newly introduced ZXi AT is quoted at Rs. 9.95 lakh (same as ZDi’s old pricing). The stark increase in price is justified by a raft of additional features like chrome garnished door, faux wooden finish on dashboard, 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome plated door handles, and 12V charging port in all the rows among others.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Old vs New – ZXi+/ZDi+
Variants | New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga | Old Maruti Suzuki Ertiga |
ZXi+ | Rs. 9.50 lakh | Rs. 8.85 lakh |
ZDi+ | Rs. 10.90 lakh | Rs. 10.69 lakh |
With the aforementioned features, the ZXi+ and ZDi+ comprise of SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with navigation and voice command, reverse parking camera and flat-bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather with wooden finish.
The ZXi+ MT and ZDi+ MT priced at Rs. 9.50 lakh and Rs. 10.90 lakh have seen price variation of around Rs. 65,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively. Maruti Suzuki does not sell an AT with the diesel version yet. We would say the price increase is justified with the long list of features being offered and moreover, the third row has reclining mechanism while one touch recline/slide system will help in passenger’s easy access.
