2018 maruti ertiga

New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will get 1.3 L diesel along with all-new 1.5 L petrol engine, both with smart hybrid system

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has officially opened bookings for the second-generation Ertiga today and the launch will take place on November 21. The initial booking amount is Rs. 11,000 as customers can either book via dealerships or through the official website. The new Ertiga made its debut at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show earlier this year.

The second generation Ertiga is based on new Heartect platform, which helped the company to make the new model lighter than its predecessor. The new MPV is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 5 mm taller but the wheelbase remains the same at 2,740 mm. The company want to improve space on 3rd row, so boot volume has to be reduced by 32 litres.

The International spec-model comes with 180 mm, which is 5 mm lower compared to the current model and we are expecting Maruti Suzuki to increase ground clearance because of our road conditions. The design of new Ertiga is completely different from the outgoing model as the front gets wider grille with projector headlamps and a new bumper.

The company has given a new design for third-row window and the shoulder line starts from front wheel arches and goes all the way to the tail lamps, which took inspiration from Volvo models. The tailgate also gets a new design theme along with an updated bumper. Maruti has also introduced a new Pearl Metallic Auburn Red colour on Ertiga along with Metallic Magma Grey, Pearl Metallic Oxford Blue, Pearl Arctic White and Metallic Silky Silver.

The interior also gets a completely new design theme and the centre console is revised along with a redesigned instrument cluster. The Ertiga is loaded with features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, cruise control, reverse camera and more.

The Ertiga will be available in four variants – L, V, Z and Z+. The petrol and diesel engines will come with SHVS hybrid technology as it will improve efficiency. The new 1.5 L petrol engine debuted in Ciaz produces 104 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The petrol model of Ertiga is expected to return more than 17.5 kmpl.

The 1.3 L diesel engine sourced from Fiat will produce 90 PS and 200 Nm. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Maruti is working on a new BSVI diesel engine and it is expected to be introduced next year. Maruti will likely increase the price of new Ertiga slight and it will compete against recently launched Mahindra Marazzo.
