Volkswagen Announces Recall For New Generation Polo

Volkswagen is waiting for final verification as they have completely redesigned the rear seat lock and will be fitted to current cars along with new models

Volkswagen officially announced a recall for new generation Polo, Seat Ibiza and Arona to fix the faulty rear seatbelt lock. The issue is a rare one and it can happen only at a particular situation. When the rear seat and rear seat belt is occupied at the same time, the left seat belt lock could be unintentionally released during sudden lane changes and high speed cornering. Even though it is not a safety issue, but the manufacturer is committed to provide maximum safety for its customers.

Volkswagen is waiting for final verification from the authorities as they completely redesigned the rear seat lock and it will be fitted to current cars along with new models which will be manufactured in future. The company has advised that it is better not to use the middle seat lock until the problem is rectified.

2018 Volkswagen Polo InteriorAfter getting the approval, Volkswagen will officially announce the recall campaign and customers who has affected cars will receive a letter from Volkswagen. After that they can book an appointment with dealer and change the seat belt. Everything will be done free of cost. Seat will recall 1,91,000 units of Ibiza and Arona while 2,19,000 units of Polo is affected with this Issue.

Volkswagen officially introduced the new generation Polo at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Polo is based on MQB platform of Volkswagen which will help the company to develop multiple body styles from a single platform. The Polo is longer and wider than the model it replaces and it increases the interior space.

2018 Volkswagen Polo IndiaThe design of Polo took inspirations from its brother Golf. But the overall shape has been retained from previous model. Volkswagen has given LED headlamp for Polo along with new grille and new bumper which gives a sporty look for the hatchback. The side angle reveals the increased length along with new alloy wheels. The rear gets LED tail lamps with new bumper and the overall design is sporty.

The interior of Polo continues the sporty theme and comes loaded with class leading features like fully digital instrument cluster, touch screen infotainment and lots of safety kit on board. Globally, Polo is available with a wide range of engine from 1.0 L to powerful turbo charged engine. Volkswagen is expected to introduce new Polo in India soon.
