Chevrolet Beat is a pretty popular model in Indian market, and the General Motors subsidiary is planning to introduce a soft roader version of the Beat in the country, which will be entering the production soon. The soft roader version of the Beat hatchback is christened as the Chevrolet Beat Activ, the automaker showcased the car in a concept form earlier this year in February at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo.
The car is based on the new generation Chevrolet Beat which is also expected to launch in Indian market later this year. The American automaker has seen an overwhelming response from the customers regarding the Beat Activ concept, which prompted the company to decide to lead the beat Activ into production.
General Motors India President and Managing Director Kaher Kazem explains, as a soft roader the Chevrolet Beat Activ will be ready to take on any adventure or challenge, while providing the driver and the other occupants comfortable experience. The Chevrolet Beat Activ looks like an accessorized version of the second generation Chevrolet Beat.
The car sports stylish and larger wrap around headlamp clusters with integrated LED daytime running lights, dual part front grille with the upper part being sleeker and housing the Chevrolet logo at the centre, the lower part will receive honeycomb design and a thick black plastic bar which will house the front registration plate. Apart from that the front fascia will receive round shape LED fog lamps, muscular bumper and skid plat, as the concept suggested.

The side profile of the car looks similar to the standard next generation Beat; additionally it would receive sporty body decals, scuff plate, while the rear would get LED taillamps. The interior of the Beat Activ would be more sporty compare to the standard Beat, expect the cabin to come with a dual tone interior theme, multifunction steering wheel, motorcycle inspired instrument cluster, which would get a digital display, and a MyLink 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system is also on the card.
Power source for the car would be a 1.2 litre SMARTECH petrol engine paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox which will generate 76.8 bhp of peak power and 106.5 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel variant of the car would be powered by a 1.0 litre SMARTECH unit which will be mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox kicking out 56.3 bhp of peak power and 142.5 Nm of peak torque.
