The most powerful Pulsar ever, the NS400 will likely debut in 2024; Bajaj will plonk the Dominar 400’s engine in the upcoming bike

Taking ahead the highly popular Pulsar nameplate, Bajaj Auto is working on its most powerful and biggest iteration ever. Likely to go by the name NS400, the naked sports bike will use the underpinnings from the NS200 while the powertrain will be lifted off from the Dominar 400. Let’s have a look at the top 5 things to know about the upcoming new Bajaj Pulsar NS400.

1. Engine From Dominar 400

Bajaj will use the Dominar 400’s 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine for the Pulsar NS400, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is essentially derived from the previous generation KTM Duke 390’s engine, however, is retuned to suit the Dominar 400’s touring-specific character. The power output from the motor is rated at 40 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. We expect the two-wheeler manufacturer to play around with this engine in order to better suit the NS400’s character, most likely by tweaking the gear ratios or the power delivery pattern.

2. Expected Price

As we all know the Pulsar moniker has always been appreciated for its value-for-money preposition. This will be continued with the NS400 and reports suggest that it will be positioned below the Dominar 400 which is currently retailing at Rs. 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom). However, there are chances that the Pulsar NS400 could be the Bajaj’s new flagship product, costing slightly more than the Dominar 400. Nevertheless, we are quite sure that it will be priced less than the Triumph Speed 400.

3. Launch Timeline

As per the media reports, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 will debut in the year 2024 and more specifically by the second quarter (April-June 2024). We expect more details to emerge in the coming months along with the exact launch timeline.

4. Pulsar NS200 Based Styling

As the bike will bear the NS name, it will be inspired by the Pulsar NS200 in terms of design. While the NS200’s design has aged very well, it needs a refresh. We expect the NS400 to carry a new and modern design with some resemblance to its 200cc sibling. The same styling could trickle down to the smaller capacity NS series bikes as well. The USD forks will continue to be a part of the package.

5. Rivals

Contesting in a highly competitive price segment, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is bound to get a lot of heat from its rivals. It will lock horns with some of the major players in its price and engine category. The list includes the New-Gen KTM Duke 390, Triumph Speed 400, TVS Apache RTR 310, Honda CB300R and BMW G 310 R amongst others.
