Scheduled for a launch next year in 2025, the born-electric Mahindra XUV.e9 has been spotted testing in its near-production guise

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently working on its new range of born-electric SUVs which was first showcased in the year 2022. These EVs will be launched in a phased manner starting from next year and a few of the brand’s upcoming electric cars have already been spied testing in India.

In the latest development, the XUV.e9 has been spotted in its near-production form, thereby confirming its imminent debut in the domestic market and it will be one of the first models to be launched from the brand’s born-electric range. While the test prototype was fully camouflaged, we got a good glimpse of the upcoming Mahindra’s all-electric SUV.

As per the company, the XUV.e9 will be positioned above the XUV.e8, the all-electric derivative of the current XUV700. Essentially the coupe version of the XUV.e8 EV, the XUV.e9 could be the company’s flagship product. Going by the latest set of spy images, the test mule closely resembles the concept version showcased last year. The strong coupe SUVish stance with the sloping roofline is coming out loud and clear in the side profile, accompanied by a set of EV-specific aero-efficient wheels.

Upfront, a fully blanked-off front grille with a full-width connected LED DRL and a split headlamp setup enclosed in a triangular housing can be observed in the test mule. We can also spot a large air dam in the lower part of the bumper paired with the ADAS radar right in between. Towards the rear, a connected tail lamp setup along with a sporty bumper will be a part of the package.

Overall, the XUV.e9 appears quite sizable in the spy images and it will surely carry a futuristic design.Under the hood, the XUV.e9 will likely be powered by an 80 kWh battery pack for the top-spec version and it will be mated to a dual motor all-wheel-drive system. Mahindra could also offer a smaller battery pack option with the front-wheel drive version.
