Mercedes Benz India took key initiative in training and production process familiarization for the Brazilian workers

Mercedes Benz has started production at their new passenger car plant in Brazil. As part of “Mercedes Benz 2020” growth strategy they are expanding their production network worldwide and this plant is also a part of that. The new plant at Iracemápolis in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area rolled out their first vehicle in form of a Black Mercedes Benz C-Class luxury sedan. Soon the GLA compact SUV will begin rolling out from the plant.

Interestingly, Mercedes Benz India took key initiative in training and production process familiarization for the Brazilian workers. The training was conducted in September and November in 2015 at the Mercedes Benz India’s Chakan plant near Pune, which produces the C-Class. At the Chakan plant near Pune Mercedes Benz India trained the Brazilian workers how to build a product in the right sequence with right tools and in the right time.

In the making of the new plant Mercedes Benz has invested more than 600 million Brazilian Real, and it has created around 600 jobs as well. Mercedes Benz has production plants in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Brazilian plant is the new addition in that list. Presently the German luxury automaker has a total of 26 production plants all around the globe.

Markus Schäfer, member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes Benz Cars, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management says, this new plant is another milestone in the development of the brands production network.

With the local productions like this the brand will be able to compete globally with more strength and this plant will also serve the Brazilian customer’s demand for luxury cars easily.

Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes Benz India says; Mercedes Benz India is very proud for being chosen to train the Brazilian workforce in production process. He also mentioned that with 20 years of experience in manufacturing luxury cars Mercedes Benz India is showing prowess.
