Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza records highest ever monthly sales in October 2018 and continues to be the highest-selling SUV in India

Maruti Suzuki introduced the Vitara Brezza at the 2016 Auto Expo and in 846 days since its prices were unveiled, the company announced that over 3 lakh units were sold at a scarcely believable rate of one unit every 4 minutes if we do a quick math. The subcompact SUV recorded its highest ever monthly sales of 15,243 units in July 2017 and it was thought to be a tough milestone to beat.

However, underlining its popularity, the Vitara Brezza did overcome that mark in May 2018 with 15,629 units. Capitalising on the festive season as we approve Diwali, Maruti Suzuki retailed 15,832 Vitara Brezzas last month at a massive 36 percent YoY sales growth. The largest automaker in the country brought in a number of updates to the Brezza’s range in 2018 including dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard, that effectively put an end to LDi (O) and VDi (O) variants.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza received added chrome treatment on the upright front grille and boot garnish while the cabin gained a new interior black theme and the alloy wheels are done up in glossy black. The biggest update came courtesy of the five-speed AMT (AGS) in VDi the and top-spec ZDi, ZDi+ and ZDi+ two-tone models and it would have helped in garnering more customers as AMT sees increased acceptance recently.

Maruti Suzuki has already stated that majority of Vitara Brezza’s sales was inclined to the high-end variants. Taking influence from the Suzuki XA Alpha concept, the SUV is built on the Global C platform and derives power from the familiar 1.3-litre DDiS 200 four-cylinder diesel engine sourced from Fiat. It is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 90 PS at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque delivered at 1,750 rpm.

Having impressed Global NCAP with four stars in September 2018, the best-selling SUV in India also complies with advanced pedestrian safety regulations ahead of it coming into effect in India. The other highlighting safety features offered as standard are ISOFIX child mounts, high-speed warning alert, front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiters and reverse parking sensors.

In October 2018, Tata Nexon continued to be at second in the segment with 4,608 unit sales while Ford EcoSport registered a total of 3,957 units ahead of Honda WR-V and Mahindra TUV300 with 3,253 and 2,113 units respectively.
