New Maruti MPV Rendering
Maruti Suzuki has no major plans to build a wide portfolio of electric cars like Tata Motors or Mahindra anytime soon. However, it has started development of its second EV shortly after the e Vitara launch. Just about three months after commencing sales of the e Vitara, Maruti Suzuki started testing an electric MPV designed mainly for the domestic market.
Internally referred to by the codename ‘YMC’, the all-electric people mover will be squarely aimed at the Kia Carens Clavis Electric, which was launched in July 2025 but has yet to attract strong demand. Spy shots suggest the Maruti YMC will have a strong resemblance to the Maruti e Vitara, featuring a similar design for the bonnet, A-pillar, side mirrors, wheel arches, and 18-inch aero alloy wheels.
Its rear end will likely have a Maruti Ertiga-inspired look with similar L-shaped tail lamps. However, the overall SUV-like character should make the electric MPV more appealing to style-conscious customers. Inside, the Maruti YMC’s dashboard, centre console, door panels, and switches should all look very similar to the Maruti e Vitara.

Maruti Suzuki will likely offer seven- and six-seat configurations and equip the latter with captain’s chairs in the second row. Whether the individual rear seats will have ventilation remains to be seen, but the front seats will offer this feature. We also expect a 10-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, and a wireless smartphone charger.
There’s no word on the availability of a panoramic sunroof in the Maruti YMC yet. However, this feature is a glaring omission in the e Vitara, and leaving it out of a family-focused model like the YMC would be an even bigger misstep. Maruti Suzuki will likely offer an array of advanced driver assistance systems, such as Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and more. Seven airbags and a 360-degree camera system should also be among the key safety features.

Maruti Suzuki will likely offer the YMC in two variants. The base variant should have a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 142 hp and 193 Nm of torque and a 49 kWh LFP battery pack. It may offer a range of around 415 kilometres. The top variant will likely use a more powerful permanent magnet synchronous motor developing 172 hp and 193 Nm of torque, along with a larger 61 kWh LFP battery pack. This setup may provide a higher driving range of around 515 kilometres.
