Maruti Suzuki is now positioned eighth in top 10 m-cap list in India; its market capitalization is more than Tata and Mahindra’s combined m-cap

India’s biggest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has come up in the top 10 m-cap ranking in the country by beating the companies like Infosys and ONGC. The Indo-Japanese automaker has come up to 8th position in the top 10 list after its stock moved up by 2.97% on NSE. After closing the at Rs. 7,464.85, the company’s market capitalization increased by Rs. 6,562.85 crore to reach 2,25,079.85 crore.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki’s market capitalization is currently higher than the combined m-cap of both Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra. These two auto majors have market capitalization of Rs. 1,34,896.92 crore and Rs. 88,598.83 crore respectively. On BSE, maruti’s stock gained 3% to end at Rs. 7,451. The company was the top gainer on the BSE benchmark sensex and it registered 3.25% hike marking a 52 week high gain.

Speaking about the two strong companies beaten by Maruti Suzuki, Infosys has market valuation of Rs. 2,17,899.66 crore, while ONGC has Rs. 2,17,074.17 crore of m-cap. This gain is believed to be the result of investor’s growing confidence on the automaker. The success of models like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ignis and recent launch like Maruti Suzuki Dzire has played crucial role behind the company’s stock market success.

Despite the entire auto industry being hit by BS-III ban, Maruti Suzuki managed to keep its sales momentum more or less intact. Also, the brand is ready to launch a range of cars in the domestic market including both facelifts and new models. With the sustained growth and upcoming range of models investors are keeping great faith on the brand.

The auto major has a couple of interesting cars lined up for launch. All these models are expected to launch during the 2017-18 period.
