Maruti Suzuki supplied nearly 93 per cent of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during April to September 2026

Maruti Suzuki has revealed that it has gone past the cumulative electric vehicle exports of 50,000 units after overseas shipments began in August 2025. The e Vitara is the model behind the export program and serves as Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle. Global deliveries started soon after production commenced at the Hansalpur facility in Gujarat.

The Hansalpur plant is the sole manufacturing base for Suzuki’s first global EV. The annual production capacity at the facility recently climbed to 10 lakh vehicles as it became the first Suzuki factory anywhere in the world to achieve that capacity in one location. The plant now handles e Vitara production for India as well as overseas destinations.

The company supplied nearly 93 per cent of the country’s electric passenger vehicle exports during April to September 2026 period. Maruti Suzuki also finished FY2025-26 as the country’s leading exporter of passenger EVs. The share in the six months shows how heavily India’s EV export numbers are presently concentrated around the e Vitara midsize SUV.

The European region received the first exported e Vitara units and remains the biggest overseas destination for the model. Maruti Suzuki now ships EVs to nearly 50 countries. The United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland are among the other destinations – taking the India-built electric SUV into the Old Continent and Asia.

The Indo-Japanese manufacturer’s export business also holds more than 50 per cent of India’s PV shipments during the first half of this FY. It must be noted that the company has ranked as the number one passenger vehicle exporter for half a decade consecutively. Its export portfolio presently consists of 16 models sent to nearly 120 countries.

The Hansalpur operation has received cumulative investment of Rs. 25,288.7 crore. The Gujarat facility was responsible for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s total overseas shipments during FY26 even before the e Vitara exports completed its first full financial year. The recent capacity increase further raises the plant’s importance within Suzuki’s international production network.
