The latest Brezza features turbo Boosterjet and K15C petrol engines, an underbody CNG tank and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating

Maruti Suzuki has announced that the Brezza has crossed 15 lakh cumulative sales in India. The compact SUV achieved the milestone over a decade after its original introduction. Furthermore, the latest Brezza, launched in July 2026, has secured more than one lakh bookings. The updated model offers an expanded selection of petrol and CNG powertrains, revised styling and added tech. It has also secured full marks in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The Indo-Japanese brand has established the Brezza as one of its key SUV nameplates over the past decade with the latest version extending the model’s presence in the compact SUV segment. The new Brezza brought in multiple changes to its exterior design, equipment and engine lineup. The powertrain options include the turbo Boosterjet petrol, the K15C petrol and its CNG derivative.

The turbocharged petrol unit provides a performance-based alternative to the K15C engine while the CNG version targets customers who prioritise fuel costs. More importantly, the CNG variant receives a substantial change to its fuel storage arrangement. Maruti Suzuki has positioned the CNG tank beneath the vehicle instead of installing it inside the luggage compartment.

Consequently, the boot retains its storage capacity without intrusion from the cylinder. The underbody installation addresses a practical concern associated with conventional CNG vehicles where the fuel tank occupies a considerable portion of the available luggage area. The new Brezza has also secured a five-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme.

The rating adds an independently assessed crash-test result to the compact SUV’s credentials. Furthermore, Maruti Suzuki has equipped the new model with several safety features alongside the changes introduced to its powertrain lineup and exterior design.

Maruti Suzuki has additionally disclosed an interesting statistic concerning customer consideration. According to the manufacturer, 56 per cent of prospective Brezza customers consider the SUV before formally beginning their purchase process. The company identifies career-focused professionals, young achievers and affluent individuals among the model’s main customer groups.

The Brezza competes in a tough segment against the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Skoda Kylaq and others.
