Maruti Suzuki Baleno sweeps 21,000 bookings within two weeks of its launch; Maruti retailed 15,000 cars from its lineup on Dhanteras
Since its entry into the market in late October, Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback has been an outstanding success for the largest carmaker in the country. The second product from Maruti Suzuki to be sold at Nexa showrooms across various parts of India has gathered a whopping 21,000 bookings within just two weeks of its launch.
Maruti Suzuki has retailed around 15,000 units just on Dhanteras, a staggering feat for a single day sales – up by around 3,500 on the same occasion last year in comparison.
Dhanteras is going fine for us. Last year we retailed around 11,500 units in a single day and this time around we expect to sell around 14,000-15,000 units in a single day today
told RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki India.
He added to PTI that 56,000 people have visited Nexa showrooms since Baleno’s launch on October 26:
We have witnessed over 56,000 footfalls for Baleno in the last 10 days and have already received 21,000 bookings for the premium hatchback
The superlative sales figures emerge on the back of Maruti Suzuki’s relentless push to bring in fresher products or variants and limited editions of vehicles already up for sale in the market. Like the new sporty editions of Swift hatchback and launches of smart hybrid system equipped Ertiga and Ciaz.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine churning out 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine will produce 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.
Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission whilst the petrol engine is also being offered with CVT automatic gearbox.The diesel mileage claim is at 27.39 km/l whereas the petrol MT and CVT are rated at 21.4 km/l.
The Baleno measures 3,995mm in length, 1,745mm in width and 1,500mm in height with a wheel base of 2,520mm. The car features 339 litres of boot space and 37 litres of fuel capacity and comes equipped with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags as standard across all variants.
